Many years ago, I worked summers as an educator with groups of non-religious US teenagers. On their first day in Yerushalayim we took them to the Kotel and gave them time to experience the Kotel on their own. As we were gathering the group, the Israeli madricha, who was very far removed from traditional Judaism, went up to me and told me than one of the “Dossim” tried to pick her up.
When I looked at her is disbelief, she said that a guy walked up to her, asked if she was free Friday evening, maybe they could get together for dinner… When I asked her to point out the guy who approached her, she pointed to none other than Reb Meir.
I guess that the phrase “Dinner on Friday Night” has different connotations for different people.
